Atlantis Training:
The non-profit beneficial foundation "Atlantis Training" whose purpose is to set up programs for young adults in shipbuilding and sail training. This foundation has to find out everything about governmental subsidies and finances within the EU concerned to job-market, youth education and environmental protection.
A strong team must be formed for the "Atlantis Training" program! People like adventure/social education workers and professional seamen who have the will to volunteer (at least in the starting period) for the project and its young crew.
"Atlantis Training" will be the name of a socially and educational project for young man and women from different nationalities in the ages from 18 to 27. The concept of this socially educational project combined with business contains the idea of giving young people a chance to create their own future within a protected environment outside the common job market in their own country. The project addresses those who due to their backgrounds and /or lack of education have no chances or at least huge obstacles to overcome to find a qualified job within the current market.
"Atlantis Education" programs will include a professional education. Certificates in shipbuilding, commercial cargo and trading will be given to those who successfully completed its programs. The idea is to let the trainees be part from the very beginning on, as we start with planning, constructing and building the sail trading vessel with our own hands. So different skills are learned! Once at sea they learn all the ins and outs of traditional sailing, working in a team, and maintain a vessel. They will be taught by professional sailors and captains whom own an unlimited sailing/cargo certificate worldwide. Starting as a deckhand, climbing up the ladder of hierarchy as 2nd and later as1st mate it is the ambition and goal of this integral project to give every participant the possibilities to continue at Enkhuizer Nautical College in Holland or other Nautical Colleges. Here they can gain all theoretical knowledge and earn an international commercial cargo certificate within three winters. This paper offers them a wide range of opportunities and the possibility to run one of the projects ships as captain, which is to run a whole fleet, build, maintained and sailed by young people.
"Atlantis Training & Crewing" will offer to its trainees and crew a perspective and the possibility to build up and join a business and to gain knowledge from it and as well add knowledge to it. Besides that their know-how needs to be passed on to new crewmembers they have the chance to live in a family-like atmosphere, giving them stability and teaching them responsibility for their home and the other crewmembers as it is the situation in "normal" families. And not for the least, they learn how to contribute to a better environment.
